January is a special month in the lives of the citizens of this country as well as peacemakers everywhere for it is on this month that we set aside a day to celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., whose abiding hope and faith in the Prince of Peace guided his comittment to love and nonviolence.
In this issue our writers reflect on the legacy of Dr. King and how it applies to us as we seek to faithfully live lives of compassion, peace and justice.
Our hope is that as you read, you will be encouraged to move forward. To, as Dr. King said, “Take the first step of faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.”
As Dr. King showed us, if enough of us start walking, the journey can take us to some pretty remarkable places.
Blessings and Shalom
